Abstract:
As the world continues to experience vast human rights violations, corruption, hyper-profiteering, environmental degradation, corporate “misdoings”, the harmful effect of neoliberalism, an increasing embrace of authoritarianism-fascist ideologies, major conflicts, proxy wars, and rampant state oppression and surveillance, as global citizens, we must call attention to the violence, harm, and crimes of the powerful that run rampant across the globe. Our talk provides an overview of the various forms of harm and crimes of the powerful along with several current global examples including the ‘race to space’ and space expansionism’s devastating environmental harms and perpetuation of global inequalities.
