An online workshop reviewing the basics of referencing: what is referencing, when and why do we do it, and what does it look like?
- Are you new to academic referencing?
- Or not quite got the hang of it yet?
- Do you want to learn the basics of what referencing is, why we do it, and what it looks like?
If you've answered yes to any of these questions, then join us for this introductory session which will refresh you on the basics of referencing. We'll consider what referencing is and why it's important for academic writing. We'll consider when you need to reference, as well as when you don't need to reference. Finally, we'll look at some different examples of referencing styles to understand what referencing looks like in practice.
Please note that this session will not cover the detailed mechanics of referencing in a particular style. The content of this session is also not style-specific, so no matter what referencing style you are expected to use in your subject, this workshop will be relevant for you.
