As part of the Department of Applied Linguistics & Communication's 'Business and Professions' lecture series, Katie Monnelly will give a talk on the profession of speech and language therapy. She will also give some examples from her work as a clinician and her use of mainstream technologies to help people with aphasia in their stroke recovery.
Speaker bio:
Katie Monnelly is a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) specialising in acquired language disorders who joined City University in 2014. She previously worked in acute hospital settings in Ireland and more recently in the NHS. She works as a clinician seeing people with brain injuries, as a researcher working with people with aphasia (language disorder after a stroke) and as an academic, teaching SLT students.
