6 June 2024: Event Report - Higher and Degree Apprenticeship (HADA) Group Meeting

The last Linking London HADA meeting was held on the 6th June and attracted colleagues from both our partner college and university institutions.

The last Linking London HADA meeting was held on the 6th June and attracted colleagues from both our partner college and university institutions 

The meeting opened with a warm welcome from the Chair Darryll Bravenboer, Director of Apprenticeships and Skills at Middlesex University London. We then heard from Pearson who presented on an overview of their interconnected offerings. Louise Coleman, BTEC Higher National Subject Lead for Health and Science firstly gave an overview of Higher Technical Qualifications and BTEC HTQ approved qualifications. Raman Gurnani, Licensed Higher Nationals Partnerships Manager then gave an overview on Licensed Higher Nationals including why to be part of the offer, how to become partner and the support for HEIs. Lastly Andy Pollard, Senior Delivery Manager spoke about End Point Assessments including Pearson’s apprenticeships, it’s standards, sectors and EPA services. 

This was followed by a college and university round table update from partners on the latest news on current offer and plans going forward. Discussion included recent challenges, outreach work, events and new developments. 

After a comfort break, we had a presentation from Pete Milson, Apprenticeships Partnerships Manager at UCAS who firstly gave an overview of UCAS’ work in apprenticeships and an update on apprenticeship developments at UCAS including the information, advice and guidance available on UCAS.com, a new job’s board, talent finder tool, and tools for employers. Lastly PM flagged what's coming next from UCAS including a UCAS CV builder, further IAG in collaboration with Ifate, and more support for teachers and advisors. PM also flagged the launch of their public engagement exercise attaching UCAS tariff points to Level 3 apprenticeships. 

Lastly, we heard from Dr Jakub Kowaleski, Partnership Manager at Linking London who presented on the key findings of our latest research piece, mapping HE and FE providers apprenticeship provision from level 2-7 in London, comparing this, to identify trends, with our last mapping work completed in August 2022. 

The next HADA meeting will take place in the Autumn term, October TBC.
