Our Certificate of Higher Education in World Arts and Artefacts explores current issues related to art production in the context of globalisation. In World Arts we look at ways in which we understand art forms from different parts of the world through a dynamic dialogue that breaks down everyday assumptions about tradition and modernity, primitive arts or exoticism. In practice we study everything from films of the Middle East to Precolumbian gold, African contemporary art, and objects from the Pacific Islands.
Our expert lecturers have direct experience in the study of specific regions, as well as established teaching careers. The programme includes practical modules with hands-on production of non-western art forms.
The programme is run in partnership with the British Museum, Photographers' Gallery and Asia House.
