Birkbeck and Wuhan Union New Era Education Industry Co., Ltd establish new partnership
Wuhan Union New Era Education Industry Co., Ltd owns eight universities and colleges in the Hubei Province of China.
Birkbeck, University of London and Wuhan Union New Era Education Industry Co., Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic cooperation and to promote the advancement of learning through exchanges and collaboration in teaching and research.
Professor Sally Wheeler, Birkbeck’s Vice-Chancellor, met Frances Yang, Director of Wuhan Union New Era Education Industry Co., Ltd while visiting China in May. Frances followed up this meeting with a visit to Birkbeck’s campus in July to sign the MOU and further develop the partnership. Professor Diane Houston, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Education and Student Experience at Birkbeck, attended the event and signed the MOU on behalf of Birkbeck.
Professor Sally Wheeler said: “I’m so pleased that we have developed this new partnership, which will provide a range of opportunities for collaboration between Birkbeck and Wuhan Union.
“It will help to facilitate joint research and enable staff to attend conferences, seminars, and workshops in areas of mutual interest. It will also make it possible for students and staff to study and research on exchange programmes both here in the UK and in China, and it will support the sharing of educational materials, research publications, and academic information across our institutions.”
Frances Yang added: “Congratulations to Birkbeck and Wuhan Union on their collaboration. I’m looking forward to creating a bright future together. We hope that the students and teachers of Wuhan Union and Birkbeck will engage in more extensive, better, and deeper cooperation across multiple disciplines and fields.”
Wuhan Union New Era Education Industry Co., Ltd owns a number of universities and colleges in the Hubei Province of China. These include: Wenhua College; Wuhan City College; College of International Business and Economics, WTU; College of Arts and Sciences of Hubei Normal University, Wuhan College of Foreign Languages and Foreign Affairs; Wuhan Business and Trade Vocational College; Wuhan Guanggu Vocational College; and Hubei Aviation University.
