Birkbeck creative writing alumni shortlisted for Orange Prize

Emma Henderson's debut novel is now on the shortlist for the Orange Prize.

Emma Henderson gained a distinction for her MA in Creative Writing at Birkbeck in 2006. During this time she worked on her debut novel Grace Williams Says it Loud, published by Sceptre last June (2010). It was shortlisted for the Wellcome Trust Book Prize and is now on the shortlist for the Orange Prize.

Grace Williams Says it Loud tells the story of Grace as she grows up in mental institutions in the 1950s and 1960s and her relationship with Daniel, a fellow patient.
