Creative Writing Lecturer Shortlisted for TV Choice Award

The Bay, by lecturer in creative writing Daragh Carville, has been shortlisted for a TV Choice Award.

The crime drama series penned by Carville first aired in March 2019. The show focuses on a detective sergeant family liaison officer investigating a case of missing twins from a family living in Morecambe. The Bay is nominated in the Best New Drama category alongside Sex Education (Netflix), Bodyguard (BBC) and Killing Eve (BBC America).

Carville has won both the Stewart Parker and the Meyer Whitworth awards for playwriting and has taught at Birkbeck since 2015. He is currently working on a number of projects for TV, theatre and film, including the second series of The Bay, which will be shown on ITV in 2020.

The TV Choice Award winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Monday 9 September.
