Birkbeck graduates shine during spring 2017 Graduation Week
Nearly a thousand graduates will celebrate achieving a qualification
Nearly a thousand graduates will celebrate achieving a qualification during this spring’s Graduation Week.
Against the backdrop of the Art Deco splendour of Senate House’s Beveridge Hall, graduates will be personally congratulated by Professor David Latchman, CBE, Master of Birkbeck, and President of the College Baroness Bakewell, over three days of ceremonies, running from Tuesday 25 to Thursday 27 April.
Illustrating the international diversity of the College’s community, graduates drawn from over 90 countries, from Zimbabwe to Ecuador to Italy, will receive their degrees during Graduation Week.
Four in ten of those graduating will be under the age of 30; half of those graduating will be between the ages of 30 and 49; and just over one in ten will be over the age of 50.
Of those graduates residing in London, Camden tops the list in terms of the highest number of graduating students living in the borough, followed by the Newham, Brent, Barnet and Lambeth.
Following the success of previous ceremonies, this April’s graduation ceremonies will also be live-streamed online, enabling family and friends across the world to share in the excitement of the occasion.
Commenting on this spring’s graduation ceremonies, Professor David Latchman CBE, Master of Birkbeck, said: “The diversity of our graduating body during these ceremonies is testament to the welcoming and inclusive environment we have worked hard to create at Birkbeck, sustaining our founding mission to welcome working Londoners – whatever their nationality and background – to achieve their aspirations.”
