It’s 8pm on a Thursday evening at Birkbeck, the sound of chatter mixed with The Gypsy Kings can be heard floating down Malet Street’s ground floor corridor, which can only mean one thing: Birkbeck Law Society is holding a drinks reception…
The Birkbeck Law Society held their first social of 2016 this Thursday and it was a resounding success! Students from all years piled into a classroom to enjoy nibbles and refreshments in a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. The evening was designed to give members a chance to get to know the new committee, while encouraging students to get to know their peers and hopefully have some fun!
The event, supported by the Students’ Union & the School of Law , was the first in The Law Society’s newly released events calendar, which features mock trials, speaker events, study sessions and more opportunities for students to engage with their peers. While most events are geared towards Law Students, the society is open to all students with an interest in the law. Find out more about The Birkbeck Law Society here.
As the music descended into the best (the worst?) of the 90s, everyone slowly made their way out of the classroom, but not before making it clear that they’d enjoyed themselves and been happily surprised by the strong turnout. While the evening officially moved to The George Birkbeck Bar and then safely home, students report going on to continue socialising at a range of locations. Everyone is looking forward to the next event!
