Birkbeck set to welcome students with two weeks of exciting events and activities
The Official Birkbeck Welcome is an ideal way for new students to get to know Birkbeck, while returning students can reconnect with the community.
As the new academic year begins, Birkbeck is thrilled to announce its comprehensive and exciting Official Birkbeck Welcome. Running for over two weeks from 23 September to 13 October, the programme offers a wide range of activities designed to help both new and returning students settle into university life, build connections, and explore everything Birkbeck has to offer.
Headlining the programme is the Welcome Fair on 5th October. Hosted in Torrington Square, students will have the opportunity to meet representatives from the Students' Union, societies, sports clubs, and university services, take campus tours, and discover the many ways to get involved in the Birkbeck community.
Complementing this event are a variety of fun activities, including a Sports Day, a Wine & Cheese Night, and a vibrant One World Picnic, celebrating Birkbeck’s multicultural and international community.
Students will also have access to informative sessions, such as how to Start Societies, Housing Advice, and a talk about Cooking on a Budget. For those interested in cultural experiences, there is a National Gallery Tour, an Embassy Tour and a Tour of London that includes a free trip to Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Downing Street, Trafalgar Square and Hyde Park.
Additionally, social events like Karaoke, a Pub Quiz, and Birkbeck Treaure Hunt, ensure there’s something engaging for everyone. There is also a Family Fun Day for student parents and guardians, providing an inclusive space for students with families to connect and unwind.
The programme also features an Afternoon Tea with the Vice-Chancellor, offering students a chance to connect with Birkbeck’s leadership.
With a mix of entertainment, cultural experiences, and practical workshops, Birkbeck’s Official Welcome is the perfect way to start the new academic year. The full programme events is available on the Birkbeck Students’ Union website.
