Birkbeck stands in support of Black, Asian and ethnic minority staff and students
We are committed to addressing racism and challenging injustice.
The Birkbeck community has been deeply affected by the recent events in the USA and we also acknowledge that racism is a lived reality for many Black, Asian and ethnic minority people in the UK and across the globe.
Birkbeck was founded nearly 200 years ago on the principles of opening up higher education to ordinary working people, rather than confining it to a privileged elite and we remain true to our original values and mission today. We have a long history of building a College community that is safe, supportive and inclusive of all.
We are proud of the diversity of our students and staff and recognise the immense value that diversity brings to College life. We actively embrace and celebrate the differences between people, recognising the strengths and benefits of an inclusive society, workforce and student body.
We are committed to addressing racism and challenging injustice in all that we do, including in our educational programmes, our research and our other activities.
