Birkbeck unveils innovative "Choose Your Own Timetable" courses for students

These courses allow students even more flexibility to work and get a head start on their career, intern, or co-ordinate their degree with other interests by choosing when to attend classes.

Birkbeck, University of London is excited to announce the launch of its innovative "Choose Your Own Timetable" courses that provide undergraduate students with choice over whether they attend classes in the evening, during the day, or a mix of both. 

With "Choose Your Own Timetable" courses, students can learn at times that best fit their schedule. This flexibility makes it easier to balance work, career advancement, and personal interests while pursuing a degree. These courses can be studied either full-time or part-time. We run teaching sessions for their core modules during the day from 1pm to 5pm, as well as in the evenings from 6pm to 9pm. This means students choose when they want to study on a module-by-module basis, allowing them to attend classes during the day or evening or a combination of both. 

For the “Choose Your Own Timetable” courses, Birkbeck guarantees that for all core and compulsory modules will be available for study either during the day or in the evening. Starting in October 2025, the following courses will be available with this option: 

  • BSc Accounting and Finance 

  • BSc Accounting and Finance with Foundation Year 

  • BSc Biomedicine 

  • BSc Biomedicine with Foundation Year 

  • BSc Bioscience with Management 

  • BSc Business 

  • BSc Business with Foundation Year 

  • BSc Business and Human Resources Management 

  • BSc Business and Human Resources Management with Foundation Year 

  • BSc Computer Science 

  • BSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation 

  • BSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation with Foundation Year 

  • BA Global Politics and International Relations 

  • BSc International Business 

  • BSc International Business with Foundation Year 

  • BSc Marketing 

  • BSc Marketing with Foundation Year 

  • BA Philosophy 

  • BA Psychological Studies 

  • BSc Psychology 

  • BSc Psychology with accelerated Foundation Year 

  • LLB Law 

  • LLB Law with accelerated Foundation Year. 

Students studying on one of these courses will also be able to benefit from using technology that allows them to join the class remotely and participate fully in discussions alongside those in classroom when they can’t make it onto campus for the teaching session.
