Birkbeck welcomes new Fellows
Leading figures recognised for their contribution to College life
Birkbeck welcomes five new Fellows to the College this autumn. Elected annually by the College Governors, the award of a Birkbeck Fellowship recognises individuals who have either given outstanding service to the College or who have attained distinction in their fields or in connection with Birkbeck.
Birkbeck’s 2013 Fellows are drawn from academia, business, political and public life. They are:
- Dr Paul Brickell (pictured), Executive Director of Regeneration and Community Partnerships for the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC)
- John Middleton, management consultant and former Head of Economic Development at the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation
- Professor Glaucius Oliva, President of the Brazil National Council for Scientific and Technological Development, and Birkbeck alumnus
- Baroness Valentine of Putney, Chief Executive, London First
- Sarah Weir OBE, Chief Executive of Waddesdon Manor, and Birkbeck alumna
