Bloomsbury Humanitarian Debates - Syria - Accessing those in need, Tuesday 5 February 2013

Syria – Accessing those in need event

Date: Tuesday 5 February 2013

Time: 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Venue: Manson Lecture Theatre, LSHTM, Keppel Street, London, WC1E 7HT, UK

Type of event: Seminar

What are the obstacles to accessing people in need in Syria, and are they being addressed? Is humanitarian aid being appropriated by those in power without reaching the people who need it?

The second in the series of Bloomsbury Humanitarian Debates will focus on Syria, and address the issue of access to aid and the dilemmas faced by humanitarian organisations in providing essential services. Reports of people going hungry in besieged cities, and press releases from organisations such as Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) about wounded people being trapped without medical care, indicate the urgent need for lifesaving aid and the obstacles to providing it.

Please join us on 5 February at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine at 17:30 to listen to the panel and join the debate on these issues.
