Call for Papers! Corpus Linguistics in the South 14: Corpus Linguistics and Multilingualism
The 14th meeting of Corpus Linguistics in the South will be held on Saturday March 4, 2017 at Birkbeck, University of London. For this session, we welcome papers examining any aspect of multilingual corpus linguistics. The studies may include (but are not limited to):
• Studies of parallel, translation, interpreting, or language contact corpora
• Corpus-based studies of multilingual practices (e.g. code-switching, borrowing, translanguaging)
• Corpus-based studies of meta-perspectives on multilingualism and multilingual practices (e.g. representations, ideologies)
We also welcome papers discussing theoretical, methodological and technical issues related to multilingualism in corpus linguistics. Brief demonstrations of software tools and resources for doing multilingual corpus linguistics would also be welcome. The objective of the session is to explore the way multilingualism and/or issues surrounding multilingualism can be usefully addressed using corpus linguistics tools and techniques. Papers are welcome from established researchers and from early career researchers, including PhD students and Postdoctoral researchers.
There are two options for submission: full papers and work-in-progress papers. Full papers will be allocated a total of 40 minutes (30 minutes for presentation followed by 10 minutes of discussion). Papers focusing on research in progress will be allocated a total of 20 minutes (15 minutes followed by 5 minutes of discussion). Abstracts of 250-350 words should specify in the heading if the paper should be considered as a full paper or as a work-in-progress, as in the format below.

Abstracts should be sent as anonymised attachments, without name or affiliation, to r.vessey@bbk.ac.uk by Friday 27 January 2017. Decisions will be sent out in mid-February.
Practical information
In the tradition of all Corpus Linguistics in the South events, there will be no charge for participation or attendance. Coffee and refreshments will be provided and participants will be welcome to attend an optional lunch (cost approximately £15). Please note we do not have any funds from which to assist with transport or accommodation. Birkbeck, University of London is located in the heart of Bloomsbury and is easily accessible by public transportation.
