Capitalism and the sea

A new article by Dr Alex Colas in Environment and Planning D: Society and Space.

Dr Alex Colas has published a new article in Environment and Planning D: Society and Space. His co-author is Liam Campling (QMUL). The article, "Capitalism and the sea: Sovereignty, territory and appropriation in the global ocean", looks at the relationship between capitalism as a social formation, and the sea as a natural force.

It does this by looking at three spaces: i) exclusive economic zone, ii) the system of 'flags of convenience', and iii) multilateral counter-piracy initiatives.

The full article is available from SAGE journals (log-in required).
