The third edition of Edwin Bacon’s popular textbook Contemporary Russia is published on 9th May by Palgrave. It is substantially revised and updated since the previous edition, including last minute changes in order to insert reference to Russia’s recent actions in Crimea. Contemporary Russia’s ten chapters organise the book thematically, around topics such as domestic politics, history, economics, culture, society, rights and freedoms, and foreign policy. Edwin Bacon is Reader in Comparative Politics in Birkbeck’s Department of Politics.
