From May until September the Department of History, Classics and Archaeology will be hosting lectures, workshops, film screenings and open evenings that will seek to understand a broad range of historical periods. The department has a distinguished tradition as an international centre of excellence, covering a wide range of periods and cultures, from prehistory to the twenty-first century. It is the only university department in London to include archaeologists, classicists and historians

The Discover the Past programme includes events on approaches to writing history and Naples in the eighteenth century, as well as the opportunity to hear from renowned historians such as Professor Richard J. Evans and acclaimed novelist Philippa Gregory.

Professor Jan Rüger, Head of Department said: “We are very pleased to welcome prospective students and members of the public to our Discover the Past events. Attendees will get the chance to interact with students and academics, and understand the diverse interests that we engage with in our teaching and our research.”
