Discussion on climate change launches new interdisciplinary MSc programme
The MSc in Global Environmental Politics and Politics is introduced with a discussion on the challenges of climate change.
On the evening of 28 June the Population, Environment and Resources Group will host an event titled The Challenge of Climate Change: What Can and Can't Be Fixed?
The event will launch the new interdisciplinary MSc in Global Environmental Politics and Policy, a programme that draws together the research and teaching of Birkbeck's Department of Politics and Department of Geography, Environment and Development Studies.
The new programme aims to deliver an ambitious curriculum, addressing conceptual and practical issues of climate change, resources, global scarcity, violence, demographic change and environmental crisis, together with an in-depth examination of key areas in contemporary environmental policy.
This is reflected in the panel of speakers chosen for the event introducing the new panel. This includes:
- Aideen Foley, Lecturer in Physical and Environmental Geography Birkbeck College.
- Diane Horne, Reader in Coastal Geomorphology Birkbeck College.
- Eric Kaufmann, Professor of Politics, Birkbeck College.
- Nick Srnicek, co-author of Inventing the Future
The chair will be Head of Politics Alex Colas.
