Dr Clare Makepiece Obituary
Dr Clare Makepeace, an honorary research fellow in our department, sadly died last week.
Clare completed her PhD at Birkbeck under the supervision of Professor Joanna Bourke in 2013 and had recently published her first book, Captives of War: British Prisoners of War in Europe in the Second World War (CUP, 2017). Clare had been teaching at Birkbeck, UCL and Cambridge over the past years.
