Dr Stacie Friend Awarded a Leverhulme Research Project Grant
Learning from Fiction: A Philosophical and Psychological Study.
Stacie Friend, along with researchers from the University of York (Gregory Currie) and the University of Kent (Heather Ferguson), has been awarded a three-year Leverhulme Research Project Grant for a project titled 'Learning from Fiction: A Philosophical and Psychological Study'. The project will combine state-of-the-art experiments in psychology with a philosophical framework for thinking about learning from literature. The researchers will examine the ways in which reading fiction influences empathy, psychological insight, beliefs and attitudes, and imaginative capacities.
