Event report - Access to HE Diploma Practitioner Group Meeting

The first Access to HE Diploma Practitioner Group meeting of the academic year was held online on the 5th October 2023.

After a warm welcome from Andrew Jones, Linking London, we first heard from Dr Fiona Murray, Head of School, Health, Education, Social and Applied Science who presented to the group giving a Morley College perspective on issues around student retention and success and how they address this. Strategies included a 4-week induction programme, a progress review and the Winter Resilience Project. 

Following this, we heard from – Marisa Castellini, Head of Access to HE at OCN London who presented on the latest Access and OCN London news and updates including the outcomes for 2022-23, the QAA review outcomes, review implementation and developments for 2023/24. 

After a short comfort break, we had a roundtable partner update providing an opportunity for partners to share the latest news from our college and university partners regarding Access delivery and HE outreach activities. Partners shared information on staff recruitment challenges and enrolment numbers and ways to support Access learners. 

Lastly, Andrew Jones provided a Linking London update on support for Access to HE Diploma learners including the latest resources that have been produced and the upcoming Access to HE Diploma Week. 

The next meeting will take place in the Spring term, 8th February, 2-4pm.
