Event report: Higher and Degree Apprenticeship (HADA) Group meeting
The third and last Linking London HADA meeting of 2022-23 was held on 22 June and attracted colleagues from both our partner college and university institutions.
The meeting opened with a warm welcome from the Chair Darryll Bravenboer, Director of Apprenticeships and Skills at Middlesex University (London), who then gave an overview of Middlesex University's project with HEE and the OU on establishing parity for non-traditional level 3 access and progression to HE within the healthcare sector including its background, the barriers to apprenticeship progression, the national progression agreement and the next steps.
We then heard from Mandy Crawford Lee, Chief Executive, University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC), who presented to the group giving an overview of higher and degree-level apprenticeships news and developments and what's coming down the line including the future skills policy, higher and degree apprenticeship growth, the future of the apprenticeship levy and Lifelong Learning Entitlement.
This was followed by a group discussion around several key themes from Mandy's presentation including Higher and Degree Apprenticeship growth, social mobility and the Apprenticeship Levy.
Lastly, Linking London shared some useful resources that Linking London have produced and what's coming up.
The next HADA meeting will take place in the Autumn term, date and time TBC.
