Event report - IAG Practitioner Group Meeting
The first IAG Practitioner Group meeting of this academic year took place on the 19th September online and was well attended by college and HEI partner representatives.
After a warm welcome from Andrew Jones, Director at Linking London, the meeting began with a presentation from Carolyn Mindos Principal Admissions Reform Lead at UCAS. Who presented to the group giving an update from UCAS, including looking firstly at the key figures of the 2024 entry cycle, clearing data. CM then shared 2025 cycle updates including improvements to applications, their outreach connection service, historical entry grades and more. Lastly, an update on personal statement change for 2026.
A college and university round table update from partners on the latest news and updates from each institution. Discussion included forthcoming events and outreach support.
After a short comfort break, we heard from two perspectives from our Partners. We first heard from Hattie Moore, Outreach Officer who gave an overview of Ravensbourne University London and some outreach projects they recently ran including an after-school club and summer school. Hattie also shared their outreach offer to partners, some include creative workshops in your college, portfolio advice, careers guidance sessions and more. We then heard from Faith Patterson, Student Services Manager, Careers Leader who gave an overview of United Colleges Group and the Career team and what they do including their CEIAG Offer to Level 3 learners. Faith also highlighted the main events and activities they do such as a HE Fair, Employability Fair during NCW, employer masterclass sessions for students and more.
Lastly we heard from Ben Rutter, Funding Information Partners Account Manager at the Student Loans Company who spoke on the latest HE finance news, updates and key messages.
The next IAG Practitioner Group meeting will take place in the Spring term, 16th January 2025, 2-4pm.
