Event report - Linking London HE in FE Practitioner Group Meeting
The third and last HE in FE Practitioner Group Meeting of the academic year chaired by Andrew Gower, Principal & Chief Executive at Morley College London, was held on the 23rd May 2024.
After a warm welcome and opening remarks from Andrew Gower, the meeting began hearing from Baz Ramaiah, Head of Policy, The Centre for Education and Youth who presented to the group about their report published jointly with Policy Connect. The report outlines five key policy recommendations to improve the relevance and uptake of Level 4 and 5 Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs).
A partner round table update then followed where partners gave any updates on HE in FE provision and related issues.
After a comfort break, Jeremy Samways, Managing Director at Think Alumni presented to the group about Alumni Management in FE, including the opportunities it creates, lessons learnt, engagement through content and HE Alumni in FE.
Following this, Andrew Jones, Director at Linking London shared an outline of what the new HE in FE guide aimed at prospective learners will include. The guide will have information about HTQs, case studies on why to study them, details on cost and tuition fees, how to apply, where next and more.
Lastly we heard from Dr Jakub Kowalewski, Partnership Officer at Linking London who presented to the group the latest draft of Linking London’s report on the distinctiveness of college HE. The group were asked for any last feedback on the report, and to share their own insights into the distinctiveness of college HE in London
