More than 900 graduates received their awards as the three-day celebration moved home.

Staff and students from across Birkbeck came together to recognise the success of around 900 graduates during the College's Spring Graduation Week.

The celebrations ran smoothly despite last-minute logistical headaches which meant that after months of planning, the seven ceremonies needed to be entirely relocated from Senate House to the Royal National Hotel in the space of just four working days to avoid potential disruption.

The Events team, along with staff from External Relations and Development And Alumni, pulled off a seamless move thanks to the help and understanding of the various Schools, as well as the graduates and their guests.

Almost 3,000 people attended over the course of three days, from Tuesday 24 to Thursday 26 April, with students personal congratulated by the Master of Birkbeck, Professor David Latchman CBE.

The international diversity of the College’s community was in evidence, with graduates drawn more than 100 nations, including eSwatini (Swaziland), Mauritius, Iraq and the Philippines.

The Rt Hon David Lammy MP and Professor Marianne Elliott also attended separate ceremonies to accept their Fellowships.

Photo galleries featuring graduates and their families have been uploaded throughout the week, as well as videos highlighting the students' stories, at our Spring 2018 graduation section.
