Green site gets the green light

A new website aims to help Birkbeck students and staff get involved with sustainability efforts, to help boost environmental improvements across the College.

Birkbeck’s Sustainability Team has launched a new website to bring together and showcase the College’s environmental activities and achievements.

The team works across Birkbeck, SOAS and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and highlights its range of work through the Greenthing Website which has been given a revamp.

The site sets out the universities’ environmental values when developing, delivering and maintaining sustainability at Birkbeck. The website has been given a cleaner design with improved menu functionality and has increased compatibility with mobile devices, making it easier to navigate on a wide range of browsers.

There is also new content, including an events calendar allowing users to follow activities throughout the year. The next big event will be a Sustainable Christmas Market taking place on Thursday 14 December with carols and a free make-your-own-Christmas-card section.

The Greenthing news section has been enhanced and there are opportunities to get involved in sustainability projects, such as volunteering with the Environmental Reps network.

Sustainability Officer Delia Gadea said: “We hope that you enjoy the fresh look and feel of our updated website and find that this portal serves as a valuable resource.”
