ISMB highlights: a new book and recent promotions
Read about recent news from ISMB members.
ISMB biophysicists, Dr Tina Daviter and Dr Mark Williams, have collaborated with international experts to edit a new book, Protein-Ligand Interactions [ Springer 2013], part of the Methods in Molecular Biology series.
The contributors have written easy-to-follow protocols for the discovery and characterisation of protein-ligand binding. Proteins are key to cell survival, binding small molecules, nucleic acid and other protein partners. Understanding the minute changes in cellular systems holds the key to the potential development of new drugs. This book provides a theoretical and practical introduction to biophysics in a way that’s understandable for beginners but still insightful to experts.
Core member promotions
There have been two recent promotions for ISMB members from UCL and Birkbeck:
Professor John Christodoulou (Research Department of Structural and Molecular Biology, UCL) promoted to Professor of Biological NMR Spectroscopy
Dr Maya Topf (Department of Biological Sciences, Birkbeck), promoted to Reader in Computational Biology.
