A post of Research Associate is offered to play a full role in the successful development of the Centre.
A post of Research Associate is offered for 12 months, part time (0.6 or 0.8 FTE), in the Centre. The person appointed will report to Dr Juliet Hassard and to Professors Tom Cox CBE and Philip Dewe. They will contribute to two of the Centre's current projects: (i) the harvesting, review and dissemination of web-based information on health and safety management at work; and (ii) the social science perspective on cancer and work engagement.
The person appointed will be expected to play a full role in the successful development of the Centre and, in particular, be involved, as appropriate, in the development of a new Professional Doctorate in Occupational Health Psychology & Management. They will also be expected to contribute to the Centre's publications and to its quest for new research funding. In doing so, they will be encouraged to develop their own expertise within the Centre.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal application will have a good first degree in a relevant area, such as: applied, occupational or organisational psychology, ergonomics or human factors, health and safety management, public health, social or employment law, or industrial or medical sociology. A Masters degree, PhD and work or research experience with a relevant focus would strengthen their application as would recognition by relevant professional and scientific bodies. Experience writing publications is desirable. They will have good analytical skills and good writing and communication skills. They will be able to self-manage their workload, and will be a good team player with good social skills.
Further Information
Salary: Grade 6 which is £30,930 rising to £35,343 (pro-rata) per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
This post is part-time, 21 or 28 hours per week and fixed term for 12 months. The initial salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The appointment is subject to a probationary period of 12 months.
