Linking london access to he diploma week 2023
Linking London held our first Access Week which took place in the week 16th of October 2023, aimed at Access to HE Diploma learners.
We kicked off the week with our first event aimed at students 'All About HE'. Nancy Bentley from St Mary’s University firstly gave overview of higher education & making choices & tips on deciding what to study and where to go. Following this we heard from Natalie Wignall from Middlesex University who presented on how to apply, including advice on writing an effective personal statement.
Our second event took place on 18th October, aimed at Access to HE Diploma learners 'All things HE Finance' where we heard from Ben Rutter, Funding Information Services Account Manager, from the Student Loans Company, who took us through all you need to know about finance for higher education. It was packed with information on tuition fees, loans, additional sources of support and how and when to apply and much more.
The last event of the week took place on 19th October 'Studying Nursing at University' where we heard from two experts from Nursing departments at the University of Greenwich and Middlesex University who presented on studying Nursing at university, including an outline of what you would study, entry requirements and tips on making choices. It also covered applying to study Nursing, including advice on the personal statement and selection process.
All the events closed with a Q&A which allowed attendees to ask any questions they had.
