Linking London Uni Connect Update April 2024
April 2024 update from Uni Connect
Despite the Easter break, the Uni Connect team have been busy working on various projects supporting our target groups. Our Kick Start Project under the Strategic Outreach strand focusing on working class boys has started, with dates ready to go in May for the first in-college sessions. Kingston University and UCFB academics will be visiting the students from NCC Epping and West London College Hammersmith, running sessions on Careers in Sport.
Our match funded strategic projects continue to take place in partner colleges. Playing On theatre company have wrapped up drama workshops in Lewisham college focusing on care experienced students and we are excited that we are now planning on delivering a series of sessions in London South East Colleges in May, followed by a campus visit to Goldsmiths University.
Our Engagement coordinator in Havering Sixth Form has been busy planning further sessions with LSBU, UEL and NorthEastern University. In addition, an academic from Reading University will be delivery sessions to 4 English classes. There was also great feedback from the recent session on Town Planning: “Helpful and educated me on next steps and the various paths I can follow.” “Informative into the sector of work I was previously unaware of, interactive and engaging.”
Planning has taken place in NCC Ardleigh Green and Barking & Dagenham College to bring HE partners to the colleges to deliver sessions, including from Greenwich, Middlesex and St Mary’s, offering a rounded view of higher education.
We have also continued to deliver webinars to all college students, with the recordings made accessible to all. This month we have delivered Introduction to HE, Student Finance and have Why Study Abroad in association with A Star Future coming up.
