Linking London Uni Connect Update - April 2025

April 2025 update from Uni Connect.

London skyline

It’s been a busy and rewarding month as we continue working closely with our college partners and delivering impactful projects. Our latest stats show the meaningful reach of our work:

  • 150 activities delivered
  • 279 students engaged
  • 19% identified as disabled
  • 7% with care experience
  • 79% of students disadvantaged in at least one indicator

Student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing the value of our work:

“I’d like to thank you for the last opportunity you put forward for me with Northeastern University. I absolutely loved the lecture – it’s actually helped me with my EPQ too!”
— Student at Havering Sixth Form, following an Economics lecture at Northeastern University

“Honestly, without your help and advice on UCAS and the whole application process, I don’t think I’d be in the position I’m in now – with a firm university choice and a clear plan for my future.”
— Student at Coulsdon College

 Celebrating Oracy at Birkbeck

This month marked the conclusion of our Oracy project, celebrated with a fantastic event at Birkbeck. Students from Ark Putney Academy delivered confident presentations to an audience of 40, proposing five new laws they passionately argued for. The day also included a stimulating mini law lecture, campus tour, and an awards ceremony with certificates and goody bags presented on stage in the lecture theatre.

Kick Start Sports Project: Inspiring Futures in Sports

Our Kick Start Sports project is wrapping up with exciting university visits for students from NCC Epping. Thirty sports students will tour UCFB Wembley, including its iconic Wembley Stadium facilities, while learning about careers in football management. They’ll then head to the Sports Science labs at UEL, giving them valuable insights into post-16 options in sports science and beyond.

 Student Finance Webinar Success

We hosted a highly attended Student Finance Webinar with over 100 participants. Ben Rutter from Student Finance England answered a wide range of questions, helping students and families better understand the financial support available.
