Linking London Uni Connect Update January 2025
January 2025 update from Uni Connect.
Uni Connect are delighted to have delivered over 100 activities since the start of the autumn term ranging from one-to-one support to campus visits and workshops. Through this we have worked with over 200 students who are some of the least likely to progress onto Higher Education. Our webinars have been well attended, and we are looking to increase this success in 2025 with our upcoming webinars on Student Finance with Student Finance England and Is University Really Worth it with a panel of university experts.
Our Kick Start Strategic projects in both sport and creative supporting students from West Thames College and NCC Epping have now completed all their in-college support and are looking forward to visiting the partner universities this term at various locations from Kingston University, Middlesex University, UCFB, Point Blank Music and Ravensbourne. We hope to complete these visits in the next couple of months to evaluate the impact.
In addition to the attainment raising projects being coordinated by the central London Uni Connect team, Linking London and Birkbeck are working with Ark Academy Trust to develop and deliver an oracy project with Year 9 students this term.
Our adult support programme in partnership with the University of Westminster launched with a campus visit at the end of November with the aim to raise the aspirations and confidence of adult learners from Newham College. This project will continue in the new term where participants will engage in activities to identify issues/research questions, plan their work and conduct research, preparing them for a higher level of education.
Our Engagement Coordinators based at both Coulsdon College and NCC Havering have been supporting with 121 applications for UCAS and Apprenticeships, along with the intensive support given to LAC students to achieve a positive progression outcome after college and STEPS Mentoring for those students with EHCPs.
