Linking London Uni Connect Update November 2024

November 2024 update from Uni Connect.

This month we’ve been busy running out Access to HE Fortnight which saw four webinars targeted directly to Access Students. These focused on Study Skills, Finance, Nursing and Midwifery and Personal Statements. Thanks to our university partners from Northeastern University, Middlesex University, University of West London, and the University of Westminster who all delivered fantastic presentations along with Ben Rutter from Student Finance England and Keith Burn from OCN London. The webinar recordings, along with our dedicated resources, can be found in the Partner Area to download.

Our strategic project targeting LPN students into creative industries was launched this month. 40 creative students from West Thames College studying Music, Media and Creative Arts had their first session to welcome them onto the Kick Start Creative project which will see them have visits from academics at Point Blank Music, Middlesex and Ravensbourne University along with visiting their campuses for insight days.

We also ran our first Wednesday Webinar of the academic year where Dale Willis from My Great First Job talked through Personal Branding for young people, detailing how you can stand out from the crowd to secure a job, an apprenticeship or a university course. We had over 150 young people in attendance and the recording can be found in our partner area.

Our next Wednesday Webinar will be run by Rate My Apprenticeship on Wednesday 6 November at 6pm. Register here to learn all about how to find, apply and secure an apprenticeship. https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/e17b4480-1451-46e5-aa7d-00d9a89fa56a@89d07f47-d258-463c-8700-635ffaeca38e
