New flexible study model for Birkbeck Master's degrees
Students will have the freedom to choose whether they learn in the traditional classroom, through online classes, or a blended approach combining both.
Birkbeck is launching a range of new Master’s courses in October 2022 which will give students the ability to select a method of study which best suits them so they can benefit from the very best Birkbeck teaching and learning opportunities, tailored to meet their needs.
Students’ lifestyles have changed in recent years. Many more now live at home rather than at university whilst they study and many work from home for part or all of the week.
“Our Master’s degrees have always attracted a high number of students who work during the day and study with us in the evenings,” says Lynn Grimes, Director of Marketing and External Relations. “As their lifestyles have changed, we have adapted our courses to meet their needs. Learning on our central London campus is still very popular, but we also know that some students prefer the convenience of studying online or combining both experiences, so we have invested in providing both. Whichever mode students choose, they benefit from live, interactive teaching and services that support them in their studies.”
The new offering from Birkbeck meets the changing needs of students while maintaining the vibrant learning community that the university is known for. The new online and blended Master’s degrees being introduced as part of the flexible Master’s programmes have been designed to facilitate rich academic discussion led by world-class teaching staff and the interaction and collaboration with peers that exists in the traditional setting.
Additionally, online learning tools, including a personal tutor, will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week; along with the full range of student support including disability, counselling and careers services. Students will also be able to take their assessments online or remotely.
Programmes available as flexible Master’s will include Marketing, Law and Human Resource Management. Read more about the full range of flexible master’s programmes here.
