Newsletter - Autumn 2017
The last season of Game of Throne was definitely ahead of its time, announcing on every London billboard last Summer that Winter is Here. But Winter is truly here now – time to rewind on what has happened in the department last term.
Notable events include: the arrival of three new academic colleagues, a new Head of Department, some more intriguing talk on Science Fiction and innovation (see international activities), media interviews in relation to the ruling on Ratko Mladic war crimes, seven new PhD students supervised by colleagues, some public engagement in relation with labour markets, trade unions and democracy, a joint grant involving all our research centres, and a number of new publications, presentations, workshops and seminars. The most memorable event to me was Professor John Kelly gaining an amazing Christmas jumper with a Penguin at the Christmas party - unfortunately, no picture was taken.
