Emeritus Prof Samuel Guttenplan has been elected to a Fellowship of the College
Emeritus Prof Samuel Guttenplan has been elected to a Fellowship of the College. This is in recognition of his great contribution to philosophy and to Birkbeck—a contribution which has continued since his retirement two years ago after close to thirty five years in the Department. During that time he served as (in effect) Dean of a Faculty of Arts and Humanities (now replaced by a new structure), and made a success of our responsibility for Philosophy within what is now known as the University of London International Programme. He continues as Executive Editor of Mind and Language, a flourishing interdisciplinary journal founded in the Department in 1986. He will receive his Fellowship at the Degree Ceremony in the morning of 14th November 2012.
