Psycho-Political Resistance in Israel Palestine

Psycho-Political Resistance in Israel Palestine

The conference on Psycho-Political Resistance in Israel-Palestine, hosted by the Department of Psychosocial Studies and BISR, October 2009, co-ordinated by Lynne Segal (London) and Uri Hadar (Israel), was both well attended and much appreciated by its audience, who were predominantly mental health workers.

Summarizing its goals, the conference aimed to give voice to the experiences of Palestinians and Israelis linked to Psychoactive, a group of Israeli Jewish and Palestinian mental health professionals who work to maintain personal and professional connections with colleagues in Gaza and the West Bank through joint activities of socio-political concern, especially the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

There is a podcast of the entire conference, including the pre-conference event focusing on memory, Jewish identity and Gaza, available on the Birkbeck Institute of Social Research Website, at the address: http://www.bbk.ac.uk/bisr/activities/podcasts

Issued: November 2009
