Bruno Roubicek, a practice-based research student working on site-specific performance, will be taking part in a production this spring as part of the Arnolfini Theatre’s exhibition: Version Control. This event is presented as part of the IBT13 International Festival of Performance.

Bruno is researching what he calls Ecological Performance which negotiates a dialogue between theatre and ecology. His research tends towards shows in urban green spaces, such as the forthcoming Little Ecological Arts Festival, LEAF, in Forest Hill, London.

As well as these outdoor performances, Bruno continues to perform in theatres. Untitled (After Violent Incident), at the Amolfini Theatre, represents the latest of a series of collaborations with Tim Etchells, the director of experimental theatre company, Forced Entertainment.

Bruno comments on the collaboration:

“Working with Forced Entertainment was a major break for me because shows like Bloody Mess” (2003-2012) toured theatres and performance festivals throughout the world and especially Europe and exposed me to a range of work which challenged ideas of what theatre could be. I remain a big fan of many types of performance including traditional theatre but when I first saw Forced Entertainment in the early nineties at the ICA in London, I felt that the company was talking in new, funny and interesting ways about the very same world that I inhabited.

"I am interested in reflecting the contemporary world, the objects that influence us and our relationships with each other and with non-humans. Objects can be placed in a theatre for us to interact with. But what happens when performers are placed in a pre-existing space and the objects are trees, earth and insects? My inclination is to get my hands dirty and get stuck in. “Man Digs Pond” was an early response to these questions.
