The Department of Politics is organising – under the auspices of the MSc programme in European politics and policy and the MSc programme in public policy and management – an event on the Fast Stream programme of recruitment in the UK civil service.
The purpose of the event is to bring together UK public officials who were recruited (and trained) through this programme (and are currently working in three different ministerial departments in Whitehall) who will present the basic characteristics of the Fast Stream programme and then share with Birkbeck postgraduate students their experience in and after the programme.
The speakers are:
- · Daniel Lowe (DEFRA): The European Fast Stream
- · Vicki Rowlands (HM Treasury): The generalist scheme
- · Carla Thomas (Foreign and Commonwealth Office): The Diplomatic Stream
