Turn a passion for art into a qualification at Birkbeck

Drop in to a free Art Café in July

A series of free ‘Art Cafés’ are being run by Birkbeck this summer in east London, aimed at anyone who loves looking at art, or who visits galleries and museums and wants to deepen their understanding about what they see.

Birkbeck Art Cafés are welcoming spaces where individuals can talk about their interest in art with friendly Birkbeck tutors. They’re aimed at people who don’t currently hold an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification – all that’s needed is a love of art and an enthusiasm for discussing it with other people.

Themes range from self-portraiture to street art, from the classic to the contemporary. Sessions will also include careers advice and workshops for IT and online resources.  Participants can explore what they can bring to university study and discuss how flexible learning can enhance your life.  Joining an Art Café could lead on to a Birkbeck programme running in 2013-14 for which student loans are available.

The Art Cafés are running in three London venues throughout  July over four sessions lasting  approximately 1-2 hours.
