Welcome to Birkbeck

Congratulations to all new students joining us in October. We are still accepting applications through clearing and will be welcoming prospective students to our Clearing Open Day on Saturday 18 August.

Entrance to Gordon Square as the College welcomes new cohort of students.

Congratulations to all our new students who will be joining Birkbeck in October. We look forward to welcoming you to our campus and showing you everything Birkbeck has to offer; from our exceptional teaching spaces and libraries, to the vibrant central and east London locations, and the unparalleled opportunities to get a head-start on your career by gaining work experience during the daytime, while attending lectures in the evening.

For those of you who haven’t made up your mind yet, we will be holding a Clearing Open Day on Saturday 18 August for all prospective students who have been offered a place through clearing, and those thinking of applying.

Running from 12-4pm, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about Birkbeck to members of staff and current students, and to look around our campus and facilities.

We will be running talks and tours throughout the afternoon, where you can hear about what it’s like to study in London, and how to make the most of studying in the evening at Birkbeck. There will also be subject talks delivered by academics from across the university, and tours from current student ambassadors, where you will learn about the local history and beautiful surroundings of Bloomsbury.

Clearing is a way of applying to university if you have missed the June 30 deadline for UCAS but wish to find a place on our full-time undergraduate courses, including certificates of higher education, foundation degrees as well as BA, BSc and LLB degrees.

There is a full list of clearing courses in addition to further details about how to make an application. In addition, we have a dedicated hotline with key staff from departments available to discuss courses and offers on A-Level results day, Thursday 16 August, and the following day, Friday 17 August, on 020 3907 0700.

Clearing continues through to 20 September for those wishing to join in the autumn term.

Why choose Birkbeck?

Birkbeck offers a unique teaching model, holding its classes in the evening, so students have the days to themselves for anything from internships, work, volunteering, or just doing their own thing. This year, Birkbeck has seen a 13% rise in applications for undergrad courses, against general UK-wide 2% drop, indicating that working while studying is an increasingly attractive option for students.

In addition to studying at a world-class, research-intensive university, recognised for its high-quality teaching, students leave with a degree awarded by the University of London.

The main campus also puts them at the heart of London, surrounded by world-famous museums and galleries, entertainment hubs, business and government.
