Biography
Dr Victoria Mousley is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Psychological Sciences, Birkbeck, University of London. She is based at the Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development's new ToddlerLab.
Victoria obtained a PhD in developmental cognitive neuroscience from University College London in 2022. Her doctoral research focused on the relationships between early language experiences, such as interaction with caregivers, and cognitive development, particularly in children from diverse language backgrounds (e.g., spoken-language bilinguals, children learning visual signed languages from birth, and children born deaf).
Her current work combines a variety of methods including wearable functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), eye-tracking, motion capture, and behavioural assessments. She is especially interested in using hyperscanning techniques to investigate social interaction in naturalistic environments with freely moving children. She is passionate about using these novel methods to understand the importance of interaction for children at risk of language deprivation.
