Biography
I am a Chartered Psychologist (BPS), and a researcher and lecturer within Birkbeck’s School of Psychological Sciences. I am a Social Psychologist and gained my PhD from the London School of Economics. Prior to joining Birkbeck I worked at the University of Surrey, and, in an earlier life, within consulting.
My broad interests are within health and lived experiences. I am conduct research into how individuals experience and manage trauma that can have a major impact on their lives. I have a particular interest in mental health and social support. I research individual adjustment in the face of adversity as well as the psychological impact of collective trauma on society. I am a mixed methods researcher.
I am also interested in topics pertaining to equality and continue to work with my past students and collaborators on related projects (e.g., literature and evidence review of protected characteristics, shared parental leave, female career experiences).
I continue to undertake commissioned research and consulting projects (e.g., with the NHS).
