Security and emergency procedures
Security staff at Birkbeck are on hand 24 hours a day, to ensure your safety on campus. Speak to them in an emergency or to report:
- an incident
- loss of property
- suspicious behaviour or packages
- criminal activities.
emergency help
In an emergency, such as the need for an ambulance, dial 555 from any phone within the Birkbeck campus in Bloomsbury.
non-emergency help (incidents and crime)
In the first instance, speak to a customer service coordinator or security staff on the reception in your building, either face to face or over the phone. Reception services are generally available from 8am to 10pm, Monday to Friday, and some weekends.
Speak to the customer service coordinator or security staff on the 24-hour reception desk, just inside our main building on Malet Street (entrance on Torrington Square) in Bloomsbury, either face to face or over the phone.
You will need to complete an incident/accident report form detailing any incidents. This will be retained and further investigations carried out, if necessary.
