Entrepreneurship at Birkbeck
Birkbeck offers a range of entrepreneurship courses to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students, both as curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Entrepreneurial insight can be learnt and developed, therefore we help our students to identify entrepreneurial potential and apply insightful approaches. Whether you are, or want to be, a start-up entrepreneur, corporate or academic entrepreneur/intrapreneur, or public or citizen entrepreneur/interpreneur, we can work with you to make your entrepreneurial journey a success.
CURRICULAR SUPPORT: STARTING YOUR BUSINESS
We offer a range of modules and programmes to provide relevant knowledge, skills, mentoring and guidance on developing a business plan to establish a new venture, consolidate new teams and pitch your business to investors. We also coach you on how to gather and analyse relevant information from potential customers, and about competitors, suppliers, investors, micro and macro environments, which are essential to minimising the risk of business failure.
The modules feature a workshop format combining both theory and practice, with contributions from entrepreneurs and business trainers, mentoring students.
CURRICULAR SUPPORT: UNDERSTANDING ENTREPRENEURSHIP
We offer a range of modules, at both postgraduate and undergraduate level, enabling students to understand how to become entrepreneurial in a wide array of settings, including venture formation and introducing innovation in corporates, universities, intermediaries, communities and policy formation.
We use innovative teaching techniques - including live case study sessions with entrepreneurs, opportunities to work with entrepreneurs to address real-life challenges, guest speeches from industry representatives, video case studies, and problem-based and flipped learning approaches - enabling students to learn and experience not only theory but also the practical applications.
