Funding and Scholarships
Master's Funding
The Birkbeck Women in Sport Scholarship is part of a wider initiative at Birkbeck to foster women’s participation in the sport industry. The Scholarship is generously funded by Birkbeck alumnus Tim Edwards and his partner Elizabeth Edwards. Elizabeth is a Director of Ipswich Town plc, a Trustee of the Ipswich Town Community Trust, as well as being the club Supporter Liaison Officer; Tim is an Associate Director of Ipswich Town FC. Together, they are co-founders of the Ipswich Town Heritage Society. They are passionate about increasing the number of women working in football and in sport more generally.
At this moment, the scholarship is not currently open for new applicants.
PhD Funding
In some years, Birkbeck is able to offer one or more full or partial studentships to potential PhD students. These provide successful candidates with payment of their PhD fees and, in some cases, a full stipend for living expenses. Availability of these studentships and their number vary from year to year. When studentships are available, details will be provided on the College's PhD funding page.
