Help to Grow
The Birkbeck Business School holds Small Business Charter accreditation, which allows it to deliver the Help to Grow management course.
The course is designed to give you new insight and practical capabilities in digital marketing, strategy, leadership, innovation, responsible business and financial management. It lasts twelve weeks, is 90% subsidised by the government and is delivered through online and in-person sessions.
There is opportunity for personal development through one-to-one mentoring and access to other Birkbeck support. Full details are available on the Small Business Charter website.

What is the Help to Grow management course?
- Eight facilitated two-hour sessions (online)
- Four practical, face-to-face workshops
- Ten hours of personalised one-to-one support from an experienced mentor
- Peer networking with fellow business leaders
- Access to the Help to Grow Alumni Programme, including speaker events, business clinics and networking opportunities
How much does the course cost?
- The Help to Grow Management Programme is 90% funded by the government, meaning the cost to individuals is just £750.
Who can apply?
- Eligible businesses must be a small or medium-sized enterprise based in the UK employing between 5 and 249 people. SMEs must have been operational for at least one year and not be a charity.
- The applicant must be a senior decision maker in the organisation, such as the Chief Executive, Finance Director, Operations Director.
