Study English Literature and Liberal Arts
In studying English literature and liberal arts at Birkbeck, you will learn from world-class researchers with expertise in a diverse range of literary and cultural forms, from the contemporary to Medieval periods.
You will gain significant knowledge across periods and cultures, practical skills in criticism and creative production, as well as industry insight that will prepare you for a career in the creative and cultural sector, or advanced studies.
On campus in central London, you will be based in a building that was once home to Virginia Woolf and frequented by members of the Bloomsbury Group. The building houses our own creative hub which includes the Peltz Gallery, Birkbeck Cinema and a theatre and performance studio.
Our affiliated research centres include the Centre for Contemporary Literature, the Centre for Contemporary Poetics, Birkbeck Centre for Contemporary Theatre and Birkbeck Centre for Medical Humanities, which programme a dynamic range of events open to students and the public.
